It’s inevitable. Sometimes you might need to update a contact’s email address during digital signing. This could be due to a typo, the contact changing their email address, or another reason. However, there’s no need to fret, as we have a straightforward process to help you handle this situation.
Here’s how to fix it:
Let the Email Bounce Back: This is the easiest method. Wait for the email request to bounce back. After which, you will receive a notification to update the email address. Click the link in the email and update the details.
Update email in the digital signing events page: Besides the party currently due to sign, their email address or name can be corrected if something was entered incorrectly by clicking the Update Info button. Saving the update automatically fires off a fresh signing request to the new address — no need to chase it with a separate reminder. Handy when a typo slipped through at setup.
Please note: this only updates the contact details used for digital signing requests and notifications. The tenancy agreement itself isn’t touched. To amend the wording in the PDF, you’ll need to cancel the signing, duplicate the tenancy, apply your edits, and then rebuild and resend for signature.
Cancel and Re-send the Document: This approach is only needed if you also need to make a change to the text in the PDF in addition to an email. You can cancel the signing from the digital signing events page, duplicate the tenancy, make the necessary changes to the duplicate, Save and Build it, and then send it again for digital signing.
We hope this guide makes updating email addresses simpler for you. If you have further questions or need more assistance, feel free to contact us.
When an email is changed during the signing process by using the link after bouncing, or after using the Update Info button in the events page, the digital signing events page might not display the new email. Rest assured that the email has been updated, and signing requests are being sent to the new email.
After an email is updated, a new signing request is automatically sent to the new email immediately.
