If you are experiencing login problems, below are some things to check.
In late 2025, we introduced a new single sign-on (SSO) login across our websites. On your first login (and occasionally afterwards), you may be asked to approve an app called "GRL Single Sign-On". This lets you sign in once and stay signed in across our sites, including:
We may add additional Guild websites to this same sign-on in future.
This is similar to when a website offers "Sign in with Google/Apple", except our sign-on is only for Guild websites. It does not give third-party websites access to your Guild account.
Safety check: only approve the request if the page you are on is clearly one of our domains (for example: www.landlordsguild.com, england.landlordsguild.com, wales.landlordsguild.com, docs.landlordsguild.com) and the address bar shows a secure connection (https).
If you are on a shared or public computer, we recommend you deny approval and/or use a private/incognito window.
If you deny authorisation, you may need to sign in again as you move between different Guild websites (as you did before SSO).
The first thing to consider is what message you receive. In 9.999 out of 10 cases, you will see the error:
“invalid login”
or
“The username or password is incorrect.”
If this is the case, it is how the username or password is typed, which is not a problem with the system.
I’m sure you will be confident that how you are typing the username or password is correct, but honestly, this message is reliable. It can be the simplest of things wrong, for example, not putting a capital letter where there should be or even if a space is missing. For instance, if the password is aG76 wdg, the following will NOT work: ag76Wdg. The problem here is the capital letters are wrong, and the space is missing.
Many customers use their email address in the top box, which is acceptable, but the downside is forgetting that your email has changed. You must ensure that the email you type in the first box is registered with us. If not, it will produce an incorrect username error.
You will need to reset your password if you still get the error or if you have forgotten your password. Our system is so secure that we cannot see your password, and it is not stored in plain text. Therefore, we cannot assist with your password; you must let the system handle this.
To reset your password, follow these steps:
Please check your spam or junk folders if you do not see the email within a few minutes.
Click the link (within 8 hours; otherwise, you will have to go back to the lost password) and then enter your new password and confirm.
Your password will have been reset.
If you get an error when trying to access protected content that reads something like “script error, please contact the webmaster for assistance”, try clearing your browser's history and cache.
Our website works best on Google Chrome. To make the website run as fast as possible, we ‘cache’ pages, which are saved to your browser, so that the next time you visit, the page doesn’t need downloading again. Sometimes, this can get a little messed up, so clearing the history and cache in your browser will typically fix this problem. Hopefully, 99% of the time, the website is fully functional. However, things can go wrong on rare occasions (usually after an update to the software). When viewing specific content, if you get a message saying you need to upgrade or renew, check that you have continued to the Guild. Even if you have not renewed, you will always be able to log in, and you can see your payment history here.
Your active subscriptions are here, and if you don’t see anything with the Guild of Residential Landlords, it may be that a renewal has not been entered into our records.
If you find some other errors above, you will probably need to contact us.
It is essential in this modern day that users have strong, secure passwords and that you NEVER use the same password on multiple sites. We use and highly recommend you give 1Password a try.
It is a fantastic app that runs on all devices, generates random passwords, and makes them easily accessible. When you visit a website, the app recognises the site and will optionally fill in the username and password with one click! It is a truly fantastic app.
If you've been a member for a while and haven't logged in recently (for example, after a recent renewal), please note that our separate England and Wales websites no longer allow spaces in usernames. This applies even if you use your email to log in. Previously, spaces in usernames were permitted.
If this situation applies to you, please follow these steps to remove the space from your username:
1. Log in to your account page: https://www.landlordsguild.com/amember/member. This page still accepts usernames with spaces, allowing you to make necessary changes. If you can't log in here, there's likely an error in your entered information.
2. Once logged in, navigate to the profile page, edit your username to remove any spaces, and save the changes.
3. Try logging into the England or Wales website again with your updated username.
